Pendle Hill – 4.5 mile circular – April 2011
Pendle Hill wasn’t our first choice today (we were originally going to the Lakes) but due to circumstances we opted for this walk as it is easy to reach from Clitheroe and we knew we could get round in three hours.
Pendle Hill is a very popular spot and as it was sunny there was a variety of ages out today, which was nice to see.
Parking up near Barley village allows for a couple of routes up the fell and we opted for the steepest, which is tough going but anybody with no health conditions can do it – maybe with one or two rests along the way. After you reach the top it’s all easy going from there on.
On the last section of the walk we pass through Barley, which is a nice village with a decent pub. We had a pint of Guiness and had a leisurely stroll back to the car.
|Difficulty||Easy (tough ascent) good for beginners|
|Time||3 hours (leisurely)|
|Terrain||Mainly good paths, tracks and roads|
