Dunsop Bridge

Dunsop Bridge

Dunsop Bridge is a small village in the Ribble Valley. It is in the heart of the Forest of Bowland and actually lays claim to the centre of the UK. Although it’s actually about 4 miles north of the village on Whitendale Hanging Stones near Brennand Farm.

BT installed its 100,000 phone box in the village and there is a plaque saying: “You are calling from the BT payphone that marks the centre of Great Britain.”

If you can catch Dunsop Bridge on a nice summer’s day, you’re in for a treat. There is a nice grassed area sitting above the River Dunsop (which kids can paddle in) and opposite is a smashing cafe called Puddleducks. Although this area can get busy on those rare sunny days.

There’s a good sized pay and display car park, and some other free places near the cafe.
