Forest of Bowland Tarns
In Northern England a tarn is a sort of mountain lake or large pond I guess. In fact the name comes from an old norse word ‘tjörn’ – which simply means ‘pond’.
There are a few tarns dotted around the Forest of Bowland, some named – some not, some big – some small. Being a bit of a geography boff this page is a kind of reference point for me.
