Andy Goldsworthy OBE is a land artist and sculptor who went to Preston Polytechnic (now University of Central Lancashire) and now lives in Scotland.
He has many sculptures dotted around the country (and other countries) and this one on Clougha had eluded us until we did some proper research.
Even after researching I still managed to head to the wrong landmark on the map. There are three distinctive marks which I thought were definitely the sculptures. Even though this is the wrong landmark we were lucky because the sculpture is very close ‘click for correct location‘.
There are a number of ways to get to the sculpture, each is probably around 2 to 3 miles from a parking point. For me, the easiest way up is from Littledale Car Park, but you could also walk up from Jubilee Tower or Abbeystead.
Clougha is a great hill to walk and the sculpture is a remarkable piece of work, the loneliness and remoteness makes it surreal, and well worth a visit.
